DURNESS DEEP TIME – BALNAKEIL

Durness Deep Time’ is a new exhibition designed by Björn S Hardarson featuring local and regional geology and archaeology of the area.  Located in the Balnakeil Craft Village near Durness it offers an exhibition and guided walks.

PLASTIC LAB – BALNAKEIL

PLASTIC@BAY is a community interest company aiming at tackling marine plastic pollution.  The recycling and up-cycling workshop in Balnakeil Craft Village is now open to the public where you can see what has been produced and buy a souvenir to help support their work.

ELPHIN TEAROOM

Elphin Tearoom offers delicious cakes, amazing coffee, a selection of teas as well as hearty soups and fresh or toasted sandwiches. Homemade cakes and soups and sandwiches freshly made to order .  The tearoom also has and puzzles and quizzes to keep you occupied until the rain stops.

ANCHORAGE CAFE BAR – SCOURIE

The Anchorage Cafe Bar  is located on Scourie campsite in the heart of the Geopark and offers lunches and a play area for children.

SMOO CAVE TOURS – DURNESS

Situated around a mile to the east of the town of Durness, Smoo Cave can be explored by boat or by the path from the car park on the cliffs.

CRAFT MARKETS

Visit one of the various craft markets such as Elphin, Lochinver or Scourie to purchase locally made items.

COIGACH COMMUNITY HALL – ACHILTIBUIE

The Coigach Commuity Hall hosts a variety of events throughout the year and visitors are always welcome.

ASSYNT LEISURE CENTRE – LOCHINVER

The Assynt Leisure Centre in Lochinver is a community run Charity operating a sports, youth and learning centre from a multi-purpose facility.  The  Centre has a sports hall a fitness suite and runs a variety of leisure classes.

ROCK STOP – UNAPOOL

The Rock Stop is the Geopark’s visitor centre where you can learn about the Geology of the area and enjoy a coffee or snack.  The Rock Stop also hosts a variety of events throughout the season.

ASSYNT AND COIGACH CREATIVE TRAIL

Artists and Makers in Assynt and Coigach have come together to create an attractive, map-based Creative Trail leaflet bringing and guiding visitors around the Coigach & Assynt Living Landscape area to exactly where (and when) locally made creative work of all types can be seen and purchased.

The Rock Stop

The Rock Stop is the North West Highlands Geopark visitor centre, coffee shop, and exhibition centre. We are also the central hub for the North West Highlands Geopark.  The shop sells everything from books on the local geology to gifts and information packs.

The Rock Stop Opening Hours

We are ready to welcome customers to the ROCK STOP! Visit our geology exhibition and local craft shop. Serving hot and cold drinks and snacks – sit in our café, outdoor seating area or take something away with you on your exploration of our beautiful countryside.

The Rock Stop is now open for the 2024 season. Open Saturday – Wednesday from 10:00 – 16:00.
