Telling the story of the many solutional caves in this classic area of British geology, it gives a different angle on the landscape created by the stacking up of massive slices of land in the Moine Thrust Belt, subsequently eroded by ice, wind and water – this time seen from the ‘inside out’! Written where possible with a general readership in mind, there are chapters on the region’s geology and geomorphology, cave exploration, cave biology, the most comprehensive summary of work in the famous ‘Bone Caves’, as well as a glossary of all the known caves with detailed descriptions.
